Veer Narmad South Gujarat University (VNSGU) was established in 1965, started functioning in 1966, and was renamed in 2004 after Veer Narmad, a reformist Gujarati poet. Veer Narmad South Gujarat University is a public state university located in the city of Surat (located 284 km south of the state capital, Gandhinagar), Gujarat, India. Previously known as South Gujarat University, it was renamed as Veer Narmad South Gujarat University (VNSGU) in 2004.
