VGSOM IIT Kharagpur

VGSM (Vinod Gupta School of Management) is a part of IIT Kharagpur and is the first management school of its kind established within the IIT system. It is a public business school ranked 14th by NIRF 2023 in India. Vinod Gupta School of Management (VGSoM) was established with the objective of developing managers with a strong technical background who will lead the corporate giants of tomorrow on the path to success.

The concept was to start a business school on the lines of Sloan School of Management, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA, i.e. to start a business school within a renowned technical institute.

The School of Management was founded by a distinguished alumnus and Life Fellow of the Institute, Shri Vinod Gupta (B.Tech. 1967), former CEO and Chairman of Infogroup (formerly known as InfoUSA), who had a generous endowment of Rs 2 million. The US dollar was matched by generous support from the Indian government.

IIT Kharagpur: MBA Programs

VGSOM offers a fully residential flagship MBA programme. The B-School also offers an Executive MBA course for working executives on weekends in Kolkata. In addition, VGSM (IIT KGP) also offers the PGDBA program jointly with IIM Calcutta and ISI. The college also offers a PhD program of 3 years duration.
