The Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology Bhopal(MANIT Bhopal) is a public technical university established on September 4,
1960. The renowned institution was named after our country’s first Minister of
Education, Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad.
The NIT Bhopal was earlier known as ‘Regional Engineering
College’, Bhopal/Maulana Azad College of Technology (MACT) in 1960. Later, the
university was renamed the ‘National Institute of Technology’ in 2002.
The Institution was declared as ‘Institute of National Importance’ within the NIT Act in 2007. The NIT Bhopal is funded and managed by the Ministry of Education, Government of India and is governed by the NIT Council.
