NIT Meghalaya

The National Institute of Technology, Meghalaya (NIT Meghalaya) is one of the prestigious university situated in Sohra, Meghalaya, India. The institute was set up and fully funded by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) in 2010. The NIT Meghalaya has been declared as an ‘Institute of National Importance’.

Earlier, the NIT Meghalaya started its academic sessions from ‘Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology, Surat, Gujarat in 2010. Later, the academic sessions shifted to its permanent campus in Sohra, Meghalaya, in 2012.

National Institute of Technology Meghalaya: Admission Process

The admissions for undergraduate programs are entrance exam-based, specifically the JEE Mains (Joint Entrance Examination). The admissions for postgraduate programs are entrance exam-based, the GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering). The admissions in MSc programs are done through the IIT JAM. The Seat Allocation is done through JoSAA/CSAB and CCMN counselling.

In India, the college rankings are based on NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework) India rankings, initiated by the Ministry of Education (MoE).

The NIT Meghalaya campus is spread across 300 acres and provides excellent facilities to students. The campus facilities include a library, student hostels, cafeteria, gym, guest house, auditorium and medical care centres. There are academic and administrative buildings and an indoor stadium as well. There are two major fests organised in NIT Meghalaya – Cognitia, a technical fest and Shishir, a cultural fest.
